Catching Up

Hi!  I have been crafting, I swear!  But I haven't had a moment to blog.  This new school schedule is kicking my butt!  Here is a little trio of Saturated Canary cards that have been waiting to be shown off.

First up is a card I made for my friend's birthday using Beauty and the Beaker.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Resplendent Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I love this one with it pretty pierced edges!  I sponged some Antique Paper Distress Ink around the image.  Papers are from my stash.  I bought them a while ago with my friend in mind.  They are Atomic Soup from JilliBean Soup.  Flowers, a mini metal binder clip, a Tim Holt pen nib, crystal spray, and an I {heart} science button complete the card.  The layout is the the current Sketch N Stash (#147).

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E25, E51, E53, E55, E59, R20, N0, YG11, YG13, BG10, BG23, Y32).

Next is a commission using Frizzy Jynx.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E25, E35, E55, E57, B00, R20, R32, R35, R37, R39, R89, N0, N2, N4, N6).

She is also colored with Copics.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Love Me. Die cuts include Heart Banner from La-La-Land Crafts and the Hearts Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I also added a couple of flowers and spattering of adhesive pearls.  Sketch is Card Mania (#55).

And finally, another birthday card, this time using Miss Personality.

This sassy little miss is colored with Copics and cut using the Long Classic Rectangles.    Sketch is Sketch N Stash (#144).  Flowers, seam binding, a chipboard glitter number, and a Happy Birthday die cut corner from La-La-Land Crafts embellish the card.  Papers are My Minds Eye - Market.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E50, E53, E55, E57, R22, R24, BG10, BG23, R34).

I will need to do some crafting this weekend, as I have a design team commitment, but I'm also hoping to get the Halloween decorations up!  It's that time again!  My FAVORITE time of the year!

Thanks for not giving up on me and checking in!  Hope you have a fabulous day!

Holy Smokes, Batman! Look Who's 5!

At 8:09am five years ago today, my life changed forever and I became a mom.  I have watched him grow and change and today, as we rush off to school at that same exact time, I can't help but think about how fast time goes by.  When did my small man get so big?!?!

I wanted to share the birthday card I made for him.  I always ask him what he would like on his card.  This year the answer was Batman.  I was a little sad it wasn't Star Wars as that is the theme of his presents and cake (also by his request), but it's his birthday so Batman it is!  I colored up Teen Scene Goes Hollywood Christian the Dark Hero from Simply B Stamps for the occasion.  He is colored with Copics, fussy cut, popped up on foam squares, and layered on top of a Classic Ovals Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Papers are Recollections - Comic Hero.  The sketch is courtesy of Digi Sketch Challenge.   They have an optional theme as well but I didn't follow that this time.  I used a Martha Stewart bat border punch as well as the city skyline Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  I added a sentiment on their Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics.  The "5" is a glitter chipboard number sticker from my stash.

We have a big evening planned with a birthday trip to Chuck E Cheese.  (I'm a firm believer that birthdays are super special and should be celebrated to their full potential!)  Happy 5th Birthday, Kayne!  Momma loves you to the forest moon of Endor and to Gotham City and back, buddy!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, YG93, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, Y35, B32, B34, B37).

Challenges:
- Cuttlebug Mania: Anything Die Cut
- Top Tip Tuesday: Kids (My tip: when designing my cards I lay everything out on the card first, as a "mock up", before I use any adhesive.  This way I can change anything that doesn't look quite right.)
- Crafts Galore Encore: #9-Make A Card

Hi again!  It's a busy week for me here.  Two cards in two days with more to come!  A very special birthday is happening this week...  My small man is turning 5!  But more on that later!  Right now I have a new "Anything Goes" KennyK's Krafty Krew challenge to tell you about.  And the twist, appropriately enough, is Birthdays!  You MUST use a KennyK image to play along.  The twist is optional but there is incentive to use it! Three images are awarded to our winner, but use the twist and your prize gets an upgrade to five images!!!

I've used Total Drama to make a birthday card for my co-worker.  She is colored with Copics and I added a Stampin' Up sentiment from a set called Birthday Bliss.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Follow Your Heart: Be Amazing.  I added a couple of fishtail flag banners, cut using My Favorite Things' Die-namic; a Happy Birthday die cut from La-La-Land Crafts; a few flowers; and two flat back pearls.

Visit the blog to see what the rest of the Krew has created and stop by kennykdownloads.com for a little shopping!  While you're there be sure to grab the September freebie too!

Hello!  I know I've been super quiet lately!  I'm still trying to adjust to our new schedule and there has been a lot going on behind the scenes this month!  I did manage to get a card made for our newest challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge!  One of my favorite sponsor is back so I had to play along!  This fortnight we are welcoming The Paper Shelter!  Not only were we given our choice of two image to play with but there is a $20 gift certificate up for grabs for our winner!  They are also currently having a Design Team Call!  Details can be found HERE.  I'm entering as I love these adorable images and would be thrilled to have a place on the team.

The theme is another favorite of mine: Autumn/Fall!  I love this season and I'm so happy it's here!  I selected Autumn Attitude and she is colored with Copics.  I sponged the sky/clouds behind her in Baja Breeze ink using a template my teamie Michelle made for me some time ago.  The sketch is Sketch Saturday (#327).  Papers are The Pumpkin Patch stack (DCWV).  I added a Martha Stewart border punch, a leaf, and a bling flourish.

First Day

Today is a BIG day here!  Today is my small man's first day of school.  Ever.  Though he's been in day care since he was 6 weeks old, this is different.  His home day cares felt, like, well, home.  This is the first time I will send him off to a classroom environment.  Not only that but he also starts a new after school program as well!  All of this has me more than a little anxious, but I know my smart, sweet, and social boy will be just fine.  Me, probably not so much.

Last week we said good bye to his day care provider of 2+ years.  She is a wonderful lady and we will miss her!  Luckily, thanks to social media, I'll be able to keep in touch with her, but I wanted to do something special for her on our last day.  I purchased a gift certificate as well as a lovely flowering plant, and made a card for her.  I selected Grow from Saturated Canary as my image.  She is colored with Copics and cut using Labels Eight Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  Sketch is based on Tuesday Morning Sketches (#264).  I'm too late to link it up, but it was a fun layout.  I added some extra elements: Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics, Magnolia View Master Doohickeys, a metal binder clip, Scrabble tiles, a big flower, ruler ribbon, and a notebook edge punch.  Papers are Basic Grey - Out of Print and We R Memory Keepers - Grandma's Kitchen: Pen Pals.

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E51, E53, E55, E59, N0, N2, YR00, YR02, YG93, R20, R81, R83, R85, BG10, BG13, BG23).

You've already seen the card I made for Kayne that I'll give him before he goes off to school.  I also made him an Artist's Trading Card (ATC) for his lunch box.  I used another Saturated Canary image: Sweet Boy.  I made this with their Facebook group challenge in mind but missed linking that up as well!  lol  He is cropped/fussy cut and colored with Copics.  Papers are DCWV - Grade School stack.  On the back is a note from me with some momma love!  I know he can't read yet, but he'll recognize my art and maybe one of the teachers will read it to him!  Any bets on whether it will make it home in his lunch box or end up in the school trash...?  Haha!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E51, E55, E57, E59, R02, R20, R35, R37, R39, R89, B32, B34, B37, Y35, YG93).

Such a big day for us here!  I will be counting down the minutes at work until I can go pick him up!  I can't wait to hear all about his first day and the beginning of his new adventure!
