Heart Strings

Hi!  It's been a rather hectic week here!  The small man is in his second week of swim lessons and, though he is loving them, it has thrown our whole evening routine out of whack!  Everything is just a little bit later and by the time he is in bed, I'm exhausted.  Twice this week I have tried to sit down and color only to give up and go to bed.  But I do have one completed card to share!

I've used Krista's adorable new Saturated Canary nurse, Heart Strings, to make a get well card.  I don't like it when people don't feel well, and I thought this would make the recipient smile!  She is colored with Copics and cut & matted using the Long Rectangles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The sketch is Sketch Saturday (#320).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - So Sophie: Graceful.  I added organdy ribbon, flowers, and pearls plus a My Favorite Things sentiment.  It's from a set called Bunny Slippers and I cut it using a Classic Circles Nestabilities die (Spellbinders).

I have more Saturated Canary images printed and ready to play with.  Lots from other companies too!  But my dance card feels rather packed from here on out...  Tomorrow, after work and swim and the usual nightly routine, I have to clean a bit plus I really need to make at least one card!  Girls' night with an old friend Friday, a bit more work and Saturday shenanigans with Kayne, then Sunday coffee with another friend and a cookout at my brother's to round out the weekend.  Thank goodness I have a "me time" vacation day scheduled at the end of next week!  But not before I hit the beach with my best friend, one teen, twin tweens, and a preschooler!  Seems like I'm going to need it!

Hope your week is going swimmingly! And thanks for stopping in!

Peace, Love, and a Freebie

Hello!  How was everyone's weekend?  I didn't accomplish as much crafting done as I had hoped, but I did manage to get my entry for the All Dressed Up Stamps/Kit and Clowder coloring competition submitted.  I entered just the colored image itself to the Facebook group, but here is the card I created with it.  The image is called Festival Lily and was free upon request.  The only catch was you had to color her up and play along!  This was my first time working with an ADU image and I found it a little challenging, especially the hair which I'm not 100% happy with.  But I persevered.  Then I popped her on a card to give to a friend.  The sketch is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 (#22).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Six by Six: Vanity Fair.  I added flowers, baker's twine, pearls, and punched butterflies (Martha Stewart).  The image is cut with the Labels Nine Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I picked up a bunch of cute little wood mounted rubber sentiment stamps from Studio G at Michaels over the weekend.  There were two in each set for a $1.50.  Not a bad deal, right?  I used one here and punched it out with a Stampin' Up circle punch.

Like what you see?  Visit All Dressed Up Stamps for more of these lovely images: shop HERE or join their challenges HERE.

It's Your Day

Hello!  There is a challenge in the Saturated Canary Facebook group and since it was "Anything Goes" there was no excuse for me not to play along!  I made a card for my co-worker to give his wife.  She loves flowers so I selected Maxine the Florist to color.  She is done up in Copics, cut using the Classic Ovals Nestabilities, and matted on the Floral Ovals Nestabilities (both from Spellbinders).  Papers are Simple Stories - Summer Fresh.  I added LOTS of flowers and a sentiment from My Favorite Things, stamped onto a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics die cut.  The sketch is a past one from Cardabilities that I rotated to suit my needs.

I always love working with Krista's images!  I'm almost embarrassed to admit how many of them I own!  lol  I have a bit of an addiction!  I'm hoping to get some coloring done this weekend and maybe a card or two (or three) made.  What are you up to?  Crafting?  Relaxing?  Off on an adventure?  Whatever you are doing I hope your day is amazing!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E33, E34, E37, E79, B32, B34, B37, N0, N2, N4, BG10, BG72, R37, R39, R89, Y32, Y35, Y38, YG11, YG13, YG17).

Guest Designer for Art by MiRan

Hey there!  I'm back with a card for Art by MiRan.  I was asked to be their guest designer for Anything Goes Challenge #11 over at the challenge blog!  I was thrilled to be a winner and to be asked to join them!  I was able to select two images as my prize and one of those was Girl Friday.  I needed a 40th birthday card for a co-worker so I colored her up with Copics and cut her out using Labels Two Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I had embellishment fever and added a few pretties from my stash: flowers, glitter stickers, glitter clip, paper clip, a Martha Stewart border punch, and Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Lovely View die (Spellbinders).  Papers are Recollections Fabulous Girl.

Visit the challenge blog to see the design team's gorgeous creations and to play along!  You could win Art by MiRan images or maybe your own guest designer spot!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E25, R32, R81, R85, Y32, Y35, Y38, BG10, BG72).

Lots of Hearts

Hi again!  I'm back with my second card using my custom Saturated Canary image, Gamer.  This one was for Kayne's dad.  His birthday was earlier in the week and since they enjoy playing video games together this was a no brainer.  Kayne is always talking about how many "hearts" his guys have (the equivalent of lives in some games apparently).  He likes it best when he has "lots of hearts"!

Gamer is colored with Copics and cut out using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I love my banner dies from La-La-Land Crafts!  This one is the Flag Banner.  The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things stamp set: Who's That Geek Guy.  Papers are DCWV - The Generation Tech stack.  Sketch is the current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (#228).

Kayne was feeling a little left out that I made cards using his image and wasn't the recipient so I've printed out one more for a "just because" card for my small man!  I'll be sure to share when it's ready!

On a side note, I read an update on little Danny Nickerson and as of today he had received over 50,000 cards from around the world!!!  That is just EPIC!

Be sure to check back again tomorrow... I have a special guest designer post to share!  Have a fabulous evening!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E04, E11, E21, E23, E31, E39, B32, B34, B37, R02, R20, R24, R29, YG00, YG11, YG13, YG93, N0, N2, N4).

A Birthday Wish Gone Viral

Hello!  I'm sure by now most of you have heard about 5 year old Danny Nickerson.  Battling for his life against the inoperable and chemo resistant brain tumor he was diagnosed with last year, Danny's 6th birthday on Friday is a really big deal.  All he asked for were cards.  And cards he shall get!  His story has gone viral and the response has been amazing and heartwarming to see- thousands of cards as well as packages and online wishes for a little boy who is bravely facing the unthinkable.  Stories like this one really strike a cord with me now that I'm a mom.  I can't begin to image what Danny and his family are going through, but I can help his birthday wish come true.  I used my custom Saturated Canary image, based on my son Kayne, to create a card for Danny.  The image is called Gamer.  (Here I have fussy cut him to lose the light saber poster.)

The image is colored with Copics and popped up on foam squares.  I used the sketch at Cardz 4 Guyz (#28) as my layout.  Papers are DCWV - the dots, stripes, & plaids stack.  I loved the bright primary colors!  It speaks to me of youth and happiness.  The circle dies are both from Spellbinders - Classic Circles and Beaded Circles Nestabilities.  I added some yellow brads and a glitter chipboard number as finishing touches.

When we dropped the card at the post office this morning I was chatting with the clerk about Danny.  I hear Kayne say "I'm sorry, Momma" from behind me.  I turn, expecting to see some sign of wrong doing, mischief, or trouble, but he is just standing there.  Puzzled, I say "About what, buddy?"  And he responds "That I didn't color a picture for that little boy too!"  He melts my heart and makes me proud, this one!  I reassured him that I signed his name to the card too and that Danny would know he was sending him birthday wishes.

I love my custom image so much that I actually used it twice this week and have another card to share with you tomorrow!

If you'd like to send Danny a card you can do so at the address below:

The Corrosive Challenge #204 - Christmas in July

Hi there!  It's been a busy week around here with a couple of fun vacation days with the small man.  I'm afraid I've been a bit neglectful of my crafting duties this Summer but I'm here to share my design team card for the new Corrosive Challenge today.  Our sponsor is one of my faves: A Day For Daisies!  And though the holidays may seem a ways off now, they'll be here before you know it so why not get a head start on your card making with our "Christmas in July" theme?!?!

A Day For Daisies owner, Tammy, is generously offering a $12 voucher to her store for our winner!  She also allowed each of us to select an image to work with.  I chose Wild Star Nymph.  She is colored with Copics and I printed her a second time so I could fussy cut her wings for an "outside the box" effect.  They are covered with a liberal amount of Star Dust Stickles.  My layout is courtesy of Sketch Saturday (#319).  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found Christmas Special Edition.  I used my Classic Circles and Lacey Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders) to cut and mat the image.  The star was created using the Stars Five Nestabilities (also Spellbinders).  I added a Tim Holtz holiday muse token and a few flowers from my stash as finishing touches.

It was fun to make a holiday card this time of year and I hope you'll join us for this challenge!  However, I am enjoying Summer and am in no rush to see Winter weather any time soon!  We just enjoyed a perfect beach day last week and I'm thinking I'd like a few more before I think of building snowmen instead of sand castles!

I will be back later this week with another card or two so stay tuned!  Thanks for dropping in and hope you have a fabulous day!

The Corrosive Challenge #203 - Forever Young

Hello!  Happy July 4th weekend to my US followers!  It's been a busy one here and as a result I am running a bit late with my post this morning!  It's time for a new Corrosive Challenge and this fortnight we welcome sponsor A & T Digital Designs, home of the magical Emerald Fairies!  These images are absolutely delightful and so much fun to use!  Each member of the design team was generously given an image to work with, and the prize offered is 3 images of the winner's choice!

Our theme is "Forever Young" - create a project for a baby, child, or even the young at heart!  I selected this darling image called Kayla and Twinkie to work with.  As you saw in my previous post, I have a coworker who is expecting.  She is due at the beginning of next month so this will be her card when her little one arrives.  I colored the image with Copics and added Crystal Stickles to her wings.  She is cut using the Classic Squares Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  I sponged a bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink around the image.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Bramble Rose.  The sketch is from Little Claire's Designs where they have a "Bright and Beautiful" theme as well for challenge #46.  I added flowers, green gingham ribbon, and a tiny pink safety pin.  The star and fishtail flag banner are My Favorite Things Die-namics.  I used a sentiment from a Stampin' Up set called Small Sayings.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  We have been strawberry picking and to one cookout so far!  Another cookout and fireworks await tonight!  I was able to enjoy a three day weekend with my small man and I couldn't think of anything more perfect (even if Hurrican Arthur did rain on our parade on Friday)!

Happy Waiting

Hi there!  Just a quick post with a baby shower card I made for a co-worker.  I have been gravitating towards Meljen's Designs images more frequently lately.  I really like their whimsical country charm!  This one is Baby Bottle, colored with Copics and cut using Classic Circles Nestabilities (Spellbinders).  The BABY sentiment was made using a Whimsy Stamps alphabet set called Spell It Out.  The letters were cut with a corresponding die.  The border die is Martha Stewart.  I added flowers and pearls and wee little clothespin.  Papers are DCWV - Nana's Nursery Baby Girl.  The layout design is based on Tuesday Morning Sketches (#256).

Markers used: Copics (R00, R20, R35, BG000, YG00, YG11, YG91, Y32, Y35, Y38).
