Sassy in the City Relay: Round 4 - Carrie Sassy

Welcome to the final round of the Sassy in the City relay!  It has been a fun, and exhausting, week over at Sassy Studio Designs as we celebrate reaching 700 members on Paper Craft Planet.  There have been trivia, contests, and prizes on PCP, but the real fun has been the progressive relay featuring the Sassy versions of the four fabulous gals from Sex and the City.  Lindsay and the entire design team have worked hard all month so that we could celebrate with you!  *applause*

There were 30 crafters who made it through the first three rounds of challenges to earn Carrie and a shot at the grand prize.  See the Sassy Studio Designs blog for all the details and to see my fellow design team mates projects as well as the participants' entries for Round 4.  Don't forget to leave some love there for your chance to win a Sassy image of your own!

My creation is late.  Hmm, big surprise there as I have been running myself ragged this week trying to keep the relay/PCP festivities running smoothly.  Carrie is my favorite SATC character and the one I think I am most like.  I can relate to her on many levels: her views on relationships, her search for the "zazazu", her flair for writing, her shopping addiction, her love of shoes... So of course I had to rush home tonight to make a project with her!  I decided on an easel card as I haven't made one in a while.  Using the current sketch (#33) over at Addicted To Stamps Challenges, I created my card front.  That amazing city skyline border was made with a Die-namics die from My Favorite Things!  I am SO happy I bought it!  Here is a better look:

Papers are My Mind's Eye - Stella Rose - Hattie.  The sticker on the base/inside is from Paper House Productions.  I also used a Tim Holtz stamp from his Regal Flourish set on the greeting panel.  Flowers are from my stash and the sentiment is computer generated.

The fun continues for a few more days over on Paper Craft Planet so we hope you'll stop by!  We just keep growing on PCP!  We're already almost a quarter of the way to 800!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned!  It's going to be a hot one here so we're probably going to take it easy and lay low.  I need a little down time before my next crafting adventure!  I am off to collapse into bed in my lovely air conditioned room now.  'Night!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Chocolate, Coffee, and Cards: #16-Anything Goes
- Totally Papercrafts: Can You Digi It? (use a digital image)
- Paper Shelter: #70-Punches and/or Dies

Sassy in the City Relay: Round 3 - Miranda Sassy

Hello!  I know I've been a little quiet on here this week and this will be why: I am busy running a fabulous relay over at Sassy Studio Designs!  It's a Sassy in the City relay celebrating our 700 members over on Paper Craft Planet!  Now unfortunately, if this is the first you are hearing about it, it's too late to join in as it's a progressive relay.  You had to snag the first free image from the SSD blog and play along with the challenge set for her before you could advance to the next round - and next free image!  We are now beginning Round 3, and I finally had time to play!

This is Miranda Sassy! She is the successful, Type A lawyer with the sarcastic wit who is cynical about men!  But when it comes to her friends she is their confidante and voice of reason.  Our challenge to the relay participants is "No Nonsense".  They are being asked to create a CAS (Clean And Simple) project with this image in order to move on to Round 4.  They have until 10pm EDT on June 29th to do so.

I needed a birthday card for a co-worker anyway so I decided it was the perfect excuse to actually play along this time.  On the show Miranda is a fiery redhead, but I  needed a brunette, to better match my recipient.  I opted for raven tresses as I found it more pleasing with my chosen color palette.  She is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped on top of the current sketch (#72) from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  I am NOT very good at CAS so this one really was a challenge for me.  I really had to resist adding little extras.  The sketch helped because it is pretty enough on its own, but it was still hard to walk away from the flowers, ribbons, trinkets, bling, and embellishments!  After I took my photo I considered tricking it out, but decided, in the end, to let the CAS stand.  It was a good call too - my co-worker loved it!  So much so that she promptly posted it to facebook!  And tagged me!  Oopsie!  I didn't think about that one when using an as yet to be revealed image!  lol

Now if you missed out on the relay, don't worry; you can still take part in the fun and festivities!  We are selecting one random comment from the SSD blog for each round to win an image of their choice.  AND we even more activities going on over at the Planet - trivia, contests, prizes, and more!  We hope you'll stop by!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Ruby's Rainbow: #31-Black, White, and One Other Color (purple)
- Anything Goes Challenge Blog: #70-Polka Dot with a Birthday Theme
- Bearly Mine: #41-Anything Goes
- Party Time Tuesdays: #74-Anything Goes

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you're having a wonderful week so far!  I'll be back with more Sassy fun this weekend...

The Corrosive Challenge #152 - Summertime Girls

I must confess that I am exhausted as I type this post....I have been up for almost 24 hours at this point, have made 2 cards and written 4 blog posts.  It is long past bedtime, closer to dawn, and my small man gave up on me hours ago.  When he stumbled from his bed at 2am looking to crawl into mine with me, as he does every night, he found me still sitting at my desk in the craft room instead.  He is now asleep on the couch as I type this, sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the living room floor.  My lil trooper!

This is my last commitment for the evening (er, morning) and then I will try to catch a few winks before sleeping beauty wakes!  I'm here to tell you about the new Corrosive Challenge and it's a fun one!  I have to confess that a trip for ice cream last night was the inspiration for selecting this image and sentiment.  Our fabulous June sponsor is Mayzy Art and this is her lovely digi called Mallory.  You can find Mallory and an abundance of other fun images in Mayzy's etsy shop.  Mayzy is generously offering up a prize of 8 digis to our June winner!  How amazing is that?!?!

Our challenge this fortnight is "Summertime Girls"!  You must use a female image to create a summery project.  Easy enough for most of us, right?  My tasty treat on a Summer evening turned into a relatively CAS card.  Designer paper is DCWV Sweet stack, sentiment is My Favorite Things, and flowers are from my stash.  The die is Spellbinder's Floral Oval.

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- 2 Sisters Challenge: #97-Anything Goes
- All Sorts Challenge: Dies to Die For
- Cardmadfairy's Digi Day Challenge: Girly Challenge

Be sure to head over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see what wonderful things my design team mates have to share with you!  And please do play along!

As the sun starts to cast a rosy glow on the horizon, I am finally off to la-la-land...  Zzzzzzzz......

Milestones

I've had a few of my own in my lifetime.... We all have.  Graduations, weddings, babies, birthdays.  They are the special moments in life that give us cause for celebration!  And for cards!  lol  My family, friends, and co-workers know just where to go when they need a card for one of these occasions.  I thought I'd share a couple of card I made this week for two such milestones.

The first is a 50th birthday card for a co-worker's sister.  When asked what her sister liked she responded "anything with a drink!"  Well, alright then!  Let's get this party started!  I selected one of the new Sassy Studio Designs Ladies Night images, Martini Sassy.  Isn't she fabulous?  There are three images in this collection but you can get them in or out of their respective drink glasses.  I've used the image without.  She is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and mounted with foam squares.  I've paper pieced her dress (I'm on a paper piecing kick lately!  lol)  The sketch is the current Deconstructed Sketch (#57).  I just looove Jen's layouts!  I can always find (or create) the perfect sentiment, and I often go to my My Favorite Things stamps collection for this. Both sentiments used here are MFT.  Add some glittered chipboard numbers and it's even more fun!  The papers, apothecary label die, and seam binding are all Stampin' Up.  And of course I added flowers from my stash for good measure! The border punch is from craft maven Martha Stewart.  Plus I couldn't resist adding a dab of glaze to her glass!

The second card is for a high school graduation (another order from a co-worker).  The school colors were black, purple, and gold so that is where my color scheme came from.  I have used the adorable 2012 Grad Boy from Saturated Canary as the image.  I wanted so badly to enter the Saturated Canary guest design team call, but I chickened out.  I saw all the talent that had already applied and got stage fright!  Plus I ran out of time and missed the deadline anyway.  Maybe next time, but I need to brush up those coloring skills first...  This grad is colored with Copics, with a sprinkling of freckles added.

I've used Carly's new sketch at Sketches by Carly (#59) for this one.  Since it was for a teenage boy I kept it free from frill, froufrou, flowers, and all the other lovely embellies that I love to use!  I simply added a Tim Holtz metal corner, baker's twine, and a ticket sentiment I made using the My Favorite Things Ticket Die-namic & stamp set and a sentiment from Stampin' Up's Great Grads set.  The "Class of 2012" is from Michaels' Recollections line.  Scalloped and Classic Circle Nestabilities and an argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder were also used.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards as much as I enjoyed making them!  I am off to run a few errands, visit the family for the evening, and then it will be back home for more crafting and blogging!  There is a lot going on tomorrow, including the start of the Sassy Studio Designs' Sassy in the City relay and a new Corrosive Challenge!  Hope you'll check them both out!

Happy Saturday!

Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday

In 1989 Coke proclaimed itself "the official soft drink of Summer".  And for me it probably was!  I was 15 going on 16 and those were the lazy days of reading books, listening to music, and hanging out with friends.  It was before everyone had computers or Internet access or cell phones.  Sitting on  a towel at the lake or walking to the mall on a hazy Summer day, we were never without our Diet Coke!  Today's Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday image reminds me of those days!  Her name is simply Soda Pop, and you can make her yours by visiting the SSD Paper Craft Planet group.

Our new challenge there for this fortnight is the "Shades of Summer".  Just use some Summer-y colors with a Sassy Studio Designs image and you're eligible to enter for your chance to win two Sassy images of your choice.

It has been hot here the past few days.  Hot as in like almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit hot!  The first day of Summer was officially on Wednesday, which was the day we welcomed the heat.  Thank goodness my air conditioners went in on Monday in anticipation!  Between that and seeing all the sunny monochromatic yellow creations the team made for the current Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge #170 "Fun in the Sun" that is where my project headed.  A bit of silver and green did sneak in, but for the most part she is living in the sunshine.

Papers are DCWV from their Lemon Flower mat stack.  My image was colored with Copics, and her overalls were paper pieced with some denim designer paper.  She was then fussy cut and mount with foam squares atop Spellbinders' Deckled Rectangles.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and is cut out with a fishtail banner from the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics.  Flowers, buttons, twine, and ribbons are all from my stash.  I added a few punched branches with my Martha Stewart punch.

The sketch is from Sketch Saturday (#212).  It has been a long time since I played along over there, but this one was too wonderful to pass up!  I had a lot of fun putting it all together.  And guess what I was sipping as I worked....  a Diet Coke!  I guess all these years later Coke is still MY official soft drink of Summer!

Be sure to head over to Paper Craft Planet to see what the Fabettes have created with this sweetie.  And you'll want to stop back tomorrow for our 4th mini release Saturday of the month as we continue to celebrate SSD's birthday/anniversary!  Then Sunday we start our Sassy in the City relay....  There will be a freebie available to everyone on the Sassy Studio Designs blog to get you started.  And believe me when I tell you that you aren't going to want to miss these fabulous images that Lindsay has created!  She has been hard at work drawing all month to bring us all these amazing new Sassies!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Charisma Cardz: #24-Summer
- Cute Card Thursday: #222-Here Comes Summer
- Dutch Dare Card Challenges: #170-Summer Fun
- Hanna and Friends: #148-Recipe (2 designer papers, 1 ribbon, 3 flowers)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day!

ADFD: Challenge #45 - Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Blue you say?  That appears to be a shade of fuchsia.  (Pink Passion actually.)  But there ARE blue highlights on her dress, made using Copic marker BG10 - Cool Shadow. See:

I know it's a stretch, but I really wanted to play along with the A Day For Daisies' current challenge and the person who requested the card asked for the color scheme to match the actual colors of the wedding she was attending.  That meant I had black, silver, and fuchsia to work with.  I hope the marker shading counts, but if not I still had fun making the card!

Here is how I met the requirements for Challenge #45 - Old, New, Borrowed, Blue:
Old - Cuttlebug embossing folder, silver and pink card stock, flowers, Fleur de Lis and Rectangle Fleur de Lis Spellbinders dies
New - You May Kiss the Bride image (ADFD)
Borrowed - My creation is based on this card.  I "borrowed" her idea for the layout.  Otherwise known as a "scraplift"!
Blue - We've already discussed this one!  ;) Copic BG10 - Cool Shadow Sketch Marker

The gorgeous ADFD image is colored with Copics, and I've added some Stampin' Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the bride's veil. The organdy trim is from Tim Holtz.

I am a huge fan of Tammy and her art so I was happy to have a reason to use one of her images!  I hope you have enjoyed my project.  It's too hot here to be typing a long post (even with all 3 ACs cranked to the max! Welcome summer!), and I still have more crafting to do.  I'm off now to plan a 50th birthday card for a co-worker to give her sister this weekend....  I'll be blogging more creations this week so I hope to see you again soon!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Crafts and Me: #89-Anything Goes
- My Time To Craft: #182-Weddings
- Divas By Design: #40- To "Die" For (use die cuts)
- Bearly Mine: #40-Flowers

Have a fabulous evening!

Tickled Pink Stamps Sponsors Cupcake Craft

I love when while crafting I learn a lesson...  I'm here to tell you about today's Tickled Pink Stamps sponsorship of the new Cupcake Craft Challenge, which is #197 - "Something in the Eyelet". To play along with the challenge you have to include at least one eyelet on your creation.  And tonight's lesson would be that setting eyelets and apartment living do not mix well!  I never use them anymore (never invested in a Crop-A-Dile either), and I forgot how noisy a process it is!  Every attempt to muffle the noise only seemed to make it louder, and I would end up being unsuccessful in setting the eyelet.  In the end I improvised and used a hole punch and glue dots.  Hey, if MacGyver could find multiple uses for duct tape, I can certainly be creative with my glue dots!

I decided to work with another lad this evening and selected Lil Lad Stefan as my image.  We are expecting some hot and sticky weather here later this week, just in time for the official start of Summer and it has me thinking of the ocean and the beach.  I have this fabulous DCWV Summer Days mat stack that I want to get good use out of so I went and flipped through it for some fun papers.  My sketch is #161 from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I really enjoy Karen's layout and play along when I can.  But today I noticed that they are having a casting call for design team members.  Everyone knows how much I love sketches!  So WHY aren't I on a sketch design team yet?!?  Good question and I think I need to try to do something about that!  So I am going to try out and see what happens.  I love the teams I'm on now, but lately I've been itching for something new!  (Sadly, I found out today that I didn't make the Kenny K team.)

Embellishments were my white eyelets, fishtail banners made from the My Favorite Things First Place Ribbon Die-namic, and a couple of flowers.  I also did some doodling around the edge of my image panel. Can you smell the coconut oil?  I sure can!  Well, in my case it would be the  SPF100, but you get the idea!!  lol  I hope you will pop over to the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to see what the other {PINK} ladies have put together for this challenge!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Robyn's Fetish Challenge: #112-Anything Goes
- Sweet Stampin': Summer Fun
- Divas By Design#39-Summer Theme
- Paper PrettiesPWC120-Summer Inspiration
- Raise The Bar: #107-Hello Summer!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there!  Today we spent the afternoon with my parents' and two brothers.  My small man was in his glory surrounded by 3 of the guys he loves best in the world!  We had Chinese take-out, played outside, went for a walk, and watched a movie.  We spend two evenings a week with them anyway, but there is always something special about an extra day, especially when  it's to celebrate the man who always drove me and my friends to the mall when we were teenagers, who picked me up after concerts (and even went to a few with me), and who, just yesterday, bought me an ice cream cone!  And today he was attempting to teach Kayne how to hold a bat!  It's all those things and more that make him an amazing dad and grandfather.  I made a card for him this morning, and I wanted to share it with you.

I used Fedora Hat Luka from La-La-La-Land Crafts as my image.  This little sweetie pie just reminds me so much of my small man that I always gravitate towards him!  The fedora makes me think of Indian Jones for some reason.  And my dad often says if he could have been anything, he would have wanted to be an archeologist.  So I guess that was my thought process for selecting the image!  lol  Luka is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers, fussy cut, and mounted on foam squares.  The layout is the current sketch from Card Patterns (#170).  It was too fabulous not to use!  I altered a Tim Holtz watch frame with some Tim Holtz gears, a chain, and a K&Company sticker.  The sentiment was cut using the My Favorite Things Die-namic First Place Award Ribbon.  I also used a Martha Stewart border punch and added a strip of seam binding.

We are home now, relaxing and watching Bambi but soon the lil fella will be in bed and I will be back to my desk, crafting.  It's going to be a busy week of card orders and design team projects so please check back to see what I've been up to.  There will be more from Tickled Pink Stamps and some Sassy fun as well so stay tuned!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Creative Inspirations Paint: Inspired By-Father's Day
- Dream Valley Challenges: #34-For That Special Guy
- My Sheri Crafts: #87-Father's Day
- Bloggers Challenge: For The Men

Tickled Pink Stamps Sponsors Send A Smile 4 Kids

Better late than never!  This was supposed to go live this morning, but I wasn't finished with my card.  I was too tired to start it last night, and my first attempt to color my image this morning ended in catastrophe so I had to walk away and come back when I was fresh.  I know, I know... If I didn't always procrastinate and planned for the unexpected I'd never be late.  But if I did all that then I wouldn't be me!  :-)  So anyway, I'm finally here with my card for today's Tickled Pink Stamps sponsorship!  We are sponsoring Send A Smile 4 Kids.  The challenge is "Birthday Fun for Kids".  Here is a little information about this group as they are more than just a challenge blog.

Send A Smile 4 Kids is a charitable blog created for the purpose of collecting donated handmade cards to be distributed to children while they are inpatient at Children’s Hospitals. Currently they are donating them to the several different Children’s Hospitals. On any given day, there are many children inpatient in these hospitals so they would love to receive as many cards as you can send to cheer them and their families. The kids may also use your cards as Thank You notes to the nurses and doctors and to give to parents or relatives on special days like birthdays or Mothers or Fathers Day. Any cards appropriate for children are welcome including any holiday (not religious specific please) and happy any day cards. For more information, please click on Guidelines for Donated Cards Tab.

I have used the adorable Lil Little Lad Luca for my project.  He's colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares.  I used this awesome sketch from Sketches by Carly (#58) as my layout.  This one was a lot of fun (all Carly's sketches are!)!  The papers are from my stash and I thought they had a youthful look to them.  They're from Basic Grey's Lime Rickey collection.  So fun!  I embossed the square panel behind the image with the Cuttlebug Number Collage embossing folder.  Seam binding, baker's twine, and a ticket sentiment created from a My Favorite Things die and  a TPS sentiment finish off the card.

I hope you will stop over the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to see what my lovely design team mates have created.  Even though Tickled Pink Stamps is no longer releasing new images, you can still buy the existing ones here in the TPS online store.  Snap 'em up now before they disappear forever!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far!

Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday

Good morning and welcome to another Sassy Studio Designs' Fabulous Freebie Friday!  Every week we offer a fantastic freebie to our Paper Craft Planet members!  We are close to reaching 700 members there!  Are you one of them?  If not, hurry over and join!  This month is a special one for SSD and we are celebrating for all of June on the SSD blog and PCP with contests, prizes, mini-releases, and freebies!  You won't want to miss out!

Today's free image is called Brianna Bridesmaid.  June is the traditional month for weddings, after all.  However, rather than make a wedding themed project, I wanted to show that she is versatile.  I've colored her in some, uh, non-traditional colors (She has pink hair!) and created a card that could be used for any occasion, or none at all!

I was originally going to use my teamie, Kathy Curry's, fantastic sketch from our DTBST challenge this week (you can find it here).  But when I was looking through my papers to get started I found this in a pad from My Mind's Eye.  It's called Lost and Found 2 - Blush.  It was my point of inspiration from there on in!  Because I wanted the paper and image to be the focal points, I kept my embellishments very simple.   For our challenge theme "Tie the Knot", I tied some baker's twine around a couple of rose buds.  The only other additions are half a doily cut from a Cheery Lynn die called French Pastry, a Spellbinders Fancy Tag cut in half, and two adhesive pearls.  Our all occasion pink punkette was paper pieced and colored with Copics.

I hope you'll head over to PCP and see what the talented Fabettes have crafted with this image!  And while you're there, grab this lovely image!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned!  Here we'll be celebrating Father's Day with my dad (Kayne's Papa) on Sunday.  They are best buds and it is amazing the way my small man's face lights up when we visit my parents' house!

Kayne and his Papa

Whatever you have planned, I hope you can also find some time to pop in and visit us at SSD!  Tomorrow we are having our 3rd mini-release this month!  I know you won't want to miss out on the fun!

Happy Father's Day to all the amazing, terrific, and wonderful dads out there, and to those moms who do it all!  (PS I'll be back later this evening with the announcement of the winner of my blog candy!)

Save a Horse...

You know how the song goes!  I saw this paper in my stash and that is immediately what started playing in my head!  lol  I knew I wanted to make a card for the Kenny K Krafty Girlz design team call (found here).  And I knew there was a sexy cowgirl that fit the bill!  Once I selected my sketch, the rest just came together easily!  I love when that happens, don't you?  I've been dying to color up Jessi Jane forever now, and this seemed like a fabulous time to make a fun card, just for the heck of it!

I chose the I {heart} sketches "sketch for you to try" for June as my layout.  You can find the details on this fantastic sketch here.  The papers, which have been in my stash for well over a year, are Debbie Mumm by Creative Inspirations.  Jessi is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers.  I used my computer to generate the sentiment and then used my Spellbinders Stars Five Nestabilities to cut it out.  I also used Classic Circles dies on the card as well.  A little bling here, some flowers there, and I was ready to go!

I love Kenny K's images, and I am crossing my fingers that I am considered.  I was checking out the competition earlier, and there are some talented crafters that have turned out for this call!  But I expected nothing less!  Still, you never know unless you try so I'm throwing my cowgirl hat in the ring!  :)

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
- Shelly's Images: Blingage

The Corrosive Challenge #151 - Feeling Punchy

Good morning and welcome to a new Corrosive Challenge!  It has been a busy crafting weekend with three posts in as many days!  I hope you've been enjoying my creations!  Sometimes there are just projects that you are super excited to work on and well, this is one of them!

We have a new sponsor, prize, and challenge to share with you!  I discovered Mayzy Art thanks to my friend Jasmine (**cough** enabler!).  She said she had found this fabulous artist, and I should check her out.  I did and after I checked out at Mayzy's etsy store, I then visited several additional times and bought more images!  So I now have a growing collection of these fun and fabulous images, but this is the first time I've colored one up!  Mayzy was generous enough to offer each of the design team members an image to use, but this is actually one that I just bought.  This little darling is called Ringmaster from Mayzy's Cirque du Digi collection!  Even more generous is the prize Mayzy is offering to our winner: 8 digis of their choice!

This fortnight the Corrosive gals are "Feeling Punchy"!  We want to see you use 2 or more punches and/or dies on your projects.  I've used two different Spellbinders Nestabilities dies on my card (Labels Seventeen and Stars Five).  Papers are Circus Valentine by K&Company.  The image is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares.  I added my usual flowers and bling plus some metal circle clips.

Please visit The Corrosive Challenge blog to see the stunning samples my design team mate have to share with you!  And we hope you'll join in the fun and play along!

I'd also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
- Mayzy Art Challenge: #2-At The Circus
- Paper Crafting Journey: Colour It Up (hand-colored image)
- Digital Tuesday Challenge: #163-Anything Goes (must use a digital element)
- Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes

It has been a relatively uneventful weekend so far and with nothing planned today, I'm hoping to get in some more crafty time.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Sassy Beach Party Mini Release

What an exciting month June is for Sassy Studio Designs!  Not only is it our 3rd anniversary/birthday, but we are about to hit 700 members on Paper Craft Planet!  And so we are celebrating all month long with a series of mini releases that will culminate in the Sassy in the City progressive relay at the end!  Last week we featured the new Girls' Night Out images.  Today we are sharing the brand new Sassy Beach Party digis!  There are three new images today, and if you have been hopping, you should have seen them all by now.  If you arrived here from Sara's blog then you are on the right track!  If you just happened to arrive here today by happy accident, you'll want to head over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog and start from the beginning!  That way you won't miss any of the fun!  Here is the complete hop order, just in case:

**Regan**
Jasmine - June GDT

I am spotlighting Beach Resort Sassy!  Isn't she a bombshell in those sunglasses?!  I just love her!  She reminds me of a model.  We were supposed to use our favorite beach themed movie as inspiration for our projects for today's hop.  I was stumped until I remembered the pool scenes from the National Lampoon movies!  Poor Clark Griswold... lol  Those movies crack me up!  She could pass for Christy Brinkley, right?

I started with some paper from my newly purchased DCWV Summer Days mat stack and went from there.  Her suit is paper pieced and the rest of the image is colored with Copics.  I added some glaze pen to her glasses for a glossy effect.  She is fussy cut and mounted with foam squares on top of a Beaded Oval Nestabilities die cut.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and is stamped on Pool Party card stock (how appropriate, right?!) that has been cut using the Labels Ten Nestabilities.  I added a few flowers, some pearls, and in a flash of brilliance, a piece of Tim Holtz film strip to pay tribute to the movie angle.

Now off you go to the amazing Jasmine's blog!  She is our guest designer for June (and my very good friend) so please leave her lots of love! Be sure to comment as you hop for your chance to win an image from this release!  A winner will be chosen at random, from one of the blogs along the hop.

The weather is supposed to be summery here this weekend.  I might be tempted to take a dip myself...  If only I looked that fabulous in a bathing suit! :)

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge: #136-Summer Time
- Fun with Shapes & More: #111-Summer

Fabulous Freebie Friday

Another Friday has arrived and with it some nicer (i.e. drier and warmer) weather!  I'm already in weekend mode and wondering what the small man and should get up to since we have no plans.  I was actually contemplating a trip to the lake.... but alone with a toddler that seems like a rather daunting task so we'll see.  What will everyone out there in blogland be doing with their Saturday and Sunday?  Any weddings on the horizon?  Even if there aren't, you'll want to stop in over at Sassy Studio Designs' Paper Craft Planet group to grab this week's 24 hour freebie!  She's called Jenny the June Bride and she is up for grabs this weekend as the Fabulous Freebie Friday image!

There is also a new challenge starting there today and, appropriately enough, it's called "Tie the Knot".  We want to see your creations, using a Sassy image, and something tied in a knot.  Ribbon, twine, hemp, lace...  whatever you've got that can be tied.  I used a piece of white grosgrain ribbon to secure my diamond ring to the lattice die cut.  The rest of the card is white on white, embossed, and embellished only with flowers, a bit of lace (which doesn't show up in the photo but is in the bottom left-hand corner under the flowers), the ring,  couple of pearls (for her earrings), and a metal sentiment that reads "Bliss".  On our beautiful bride, I embossed the skirt of her wedding gown and added Stickles to her veil.  (Our Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge this week is to add "a splash of something wet" to your project.) Jenny is colored with Copics.

Please stop over at Paper Craft Planet to download this lovely image and to see what the other Fabettes have made for your enjoyment!  Also, we are on countdown alert for 700 members there and the fun has already started with several contests.  The festivities will culminate with a fabulous Sassy in the City progressive relay at the end of the month!  Excited yet?  We are!  And if that's not enough, make sure you're checking out the SSD blog every Saturday as well for the month of June!  It is Sassy Studio Designs' birthday/anniversary month and we are celebrating with a series of awesome mini-releases!  Last week it was Girls' Night Out.... This week there's a Beach Party coming!

We hope you'll join us for all the fun this month as SSD celebrates some exciting milestones: 3 years and 700 PCP members!

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:
- Crafty Creations: #173-Wedding or Anniversary
- The Perfect Sentiment: PSC35: Lacy Romance (love, wedding, or anniversary)
- Crafty Sentiments: White on White
- Flourishes: #172-White Wedding Card (with lace and/or pearls)
- Daisy Doodle Creative Challenge: #61-Here Comes the Bride (must contain a digi)
- Hooked on Crafts Challenges: #21-All That Glitters
- The Ribbon Girls: Use Ribbon or Lace

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your Friday!  I'll be back tomorrow with a SSD beach beauty and again on Sunday for a new Corrosive Challenge!

A Tale of Two Sketches

Happy Sunday!  It's been a lovely weekend so far.  Today was sunny and cool - perfect weather for playing outside in the back yard and taking a walk!  Which is exactly what we did!  I blew bubbles for the small man and laughed as he chased them every which way around the yard!

Yesterday was a different story and the unrelenting rain was an excuse to craft.  I actually had some time to make a couple of creations that I thought I'd share with you today.  Everyone knows I love using sketches!  It takes the pressure off and give you a "jumping off" point for your creation.  Honestly, sometimes I think I might never get started if it weren't for some of the fabulous sketch challenges out there!

My first project uses the current Papertake Weekly sketch (#68).  It's a graduation card featuring one of the new grad images from Sassy Studio Designs called Chelsea's Graduation.  Perfect for the sassy high school graduate!  I'm told this particular grad was honors president AND homecoming queen so she deserved a special card!  Chelsea is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers.  I then dug out some TPC Studios Class Act papers from my stash and paired it with Brilliant Blue and Basic Black card stock from Stampin' Up.  The border punch is Martha Stewart.  A bit of embossing for the blue panel and a sprinkling of flowers in the corner complete the card.  The "Class of 2012" dimensional sticker is from Michaels' Recollections line.

My second creation was for the 2nd birthday party we went to yesterday afternoon.  Of course, procrastinator that I am, I had to make it before we could leave for the party, making us fashionably late.  Typical.  lol  So I was a little rushes and I'm not happy with my coloring.  This is actually my second attempt because the ink from my printer wasn't dry and kept smearing.  I completely smudged poor Luka's face on my first attempt!  Here you can see it a little bit on his hair, but I was out of time for a re-do so it had to suffice.  The recipient's mom didn't seem to mind, though, and said it was going to be saved along with the baby shower invitation and shower thank you cards I made for her.  It's hard to believe our little guys are two already!

This adorable sketch is from Sketches by Carly (#57)!  If you haven't checked out this young lady's challenge blog, you must go visit!  She is super talented!  For my card I used Outlaw Luka from La-La-Land Crafts.  I love their images and don't get to use them often enough!  The cloud paper was in my stash and I used various Stampin' Up punches plus a Die-namics die from My Favorite Things to complete the layout.  The only embellishment on the card are the glitter chipboard letters and number.

It's time to wake the sleeping toddler...  A 3-1/2 hour nap is probably long enough and Mommy is hungry for dinner!  lol  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy what's left of your weekend!

Fabulous Freebie Friday

I got a little SMASH*ed last night!  And on a work night, too! I don't know what came over me, but once I got the idea in my head I just had to go with it!  Even though the adult beverages stayed bottled up, I did have a SMASH*ING good time making this SMASH* page about my junior prom that was *gasp* 22 years ago!  I have decided this particular book (the pink one) is going to be dedicate to all my "favorites".  My first, and only, page was about my favorite stamp companies.  This one is focused on my favorite dress!

The inspiration for this whole shenanigan is this week's Fabulous Freebie Friday image from Sassy Studio Designs.  She's called Ashlee's Prom, and you can find her over on our Paper Craft Planet group.  I love her little pose, such attitude, and she made me think of my purple prom gown.  You can see why, right?

After two hours of digging through piles of old (and unorganized) photos, I finally found a few I could work with.  The gal in the pink is still one of my very good friends to this day.  The lucky guy with both of us is her date.  My date is suspiciously absent in all the photos.  Maybe he was the one behind the camera...?  I can't remember.  I AM old after all since this was 22 years ago!

Anyway, I just selected a page in my poor neglected SMASH* book and loaded it with bits and bobs from around my craft room.  There are flowers, bling, and my usual tribute to Tim Holtz.  I also had a limo sticker from Jolee's and added some chipboard glitter letters for my title.  I really had fun with the flowers.  It will be interesting to get the book closed now!

Please visit the Sassy Studio Designs group on Paper Craft Planet to download Ashlee's Prom for yourself (better hop to it - you only have 24 hours!) and to see what my new Fabettes have created for their debuts!  And spread the word!  Lindsay loves sharing her freebies with you!  We'd love to reach 700 members this month on PCP so that we can throw you a big par-tay!  We'll be having fun, celebrating SSD's birthday/anniversary all month long so be sure to check in with us often!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous start to your weekend!
